PRACTICE/BUSINESS MANAGEMENT TIP: IF YOU GET TOO BUSY, YOU MAY BE SETTING YOURSELF UP FOR NOT BEING BUSY

Last week I was in trial, depositions, mediations or hearings every single day, with three of those days being out of town. So, you might think things are going great. The problem is that I was not able to do any of my normal client care during that time and I was not able to preform any of my normal marketing activities (such as writing this blog). Businesses which are very busy should be sensitive to the fact that a downward spike in new business is likely to take place as a result of having a good business. The reason is that when we have a good business, we stop doing the things we did to get the business in the first place. In some cases, being too busy my be unavoidable. But, one solution is to be very careful with your scheduling. As I look back on it, I was so intent on getting some things done, I completely forgot about giving myself space. If you are busy, take care not to fall into the trap of trying to do it all at once. Build some buffer time in between appointments or hearings, etc. This will make life less hectic. It will make you more effective and it will keep the pipeline of new business flowing more freely.
